What is St Luke's Hospice?

St Luke's is a hospice which cares for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have incurable illnesses. Their aim is always to control the patients symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life – all free of charge. It costs £6 million per annum to keep St Luke's open, and government funding, via NHS trusts only provides one third of the funds required, which means the Hospice has to raise a staggering £4 million each year to provide this vital end-of-life care.

This challenge was set up by a St Luke's Supporter who has seen first hand, the amazing care given to patients through St Luke's and whilst donations are now closed we would like to thank all our donators for their wonderful contributions.

  9. Just one little thing . . . the word verification is turned on for this site at the moment. It would be great if that was turned off, so people can comment more easily.

  18. Hi there, I'll be following too. I live near Chesterfield, so this is quite local to me too. I've never had the nerve to submit a card to a challenge yet, but I'll give it a go. I'm happy to donate my card but would appreciate some advice about what sort of envelope to use to protect the card in the post, thanks.

  25. Hi, I have just read about your appeal over on LIM and want to offer my support for this very worthy charity. 2 Years ago I had a breast cancer scare which after tests proved negative - I was lucky! At that time I also ran a "donate a card appeal" and was amazed at crafters generousity and the numbers of families that are touched by this disease. I'm sure you will have lots of support and I will post details for you on my blog. Best wishes, ikki

  29. What a great idea! I'll look out the snail mail address and pop some cards over, for sale. People have been so good giving me kit and cards for the charity I make/sell for, http://www.touch1000lives.org/, it's nice to be able to return the blessing. xx
