What is St Luke's Hospice?

St Luke's is a hospice which cares for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have incurable illnesses. Their aim is always to control the patients symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life – all free of charge. It costs £6 million per annum to keep St Luke's open, and government funding, via NHS trusts only provides one third of the funds required, which means the Hospice has to raise a staggering £4 million each year to provide this vital end-of-life care.

This challenge was set up by a St Luke's Supporter who has seen first hand, the amazing care given to patients through St Luke's and whilst donations are now closed we would like to thank all our donators for their wonderful contributions.

New Monthly Challenges Starting 2nd April 2011

Our newly formed Design Team are working away preparing this new monthly challenge for you. Please click the little link on the left and become a follower and come back on the 2nd April (well we couldn't start it on April Fools day now could we???) to see what the first challenge is and what eye candy the DT have for your delectation and inspiration!

New challenges will then be posted on the 1st of every month so come back often and play along.

    Hi there, I'll be following too. I live near Chesterfield, so this is quite local to me too. I've never had the nerve to submit a card to a challenge yet, but I'll give it a go. I'm happy to donate my card but would appreciate some advice about what sort of envelope to use to protect the card in the post, thanks.

    Hi, I have just read about your appeal over on LIM and want to offer my support for this very worthy charity. 2 Years ago I had a breast cancer scare which after tests proved negative - I was lucky! At that time I also ran a "donate a card appeal" and was amazed at crafters generousity and the numbers of families that are touched by this disease.
