What is St Luke's Hospice?

St Luke's is a hospice which cares for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have incurable illnesses. Their aim is always to control the patients symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life – all free of charge. It costs £6 million per annum to keep St Luke's open, and government funding, via NHS trusts only provides one third of the funds required, which means the Hospice has to raise a staggering £4 million each year to provide this vital end-of-life care.

This challenge was set up by a St Luke's Supporter who has seen first hand, the amazing care given to patients through St Luke's and whilst donations are now closed we would like to thank all our donators for their wonderful contributions.

Colour Challenge

Welcome back everyone and thanks for checking in on our new challenge.  We've got a nice and easy colour challenge for you this month - your card can be in any style you like, with any kind of image, but the challenge is to make it with just 3 colours - BLACK, WHITE plus ONE OTHER COLOUR.  You can pick any colour you like for your third colour and shades of both it and grey are acceptable in your card but it should be 3 colours only.  The DT have some great inspirational cards to share with you today and you'll find those below.

First off though, you'll want to know what the prize is up for grabs this month for the winning card.  This month we have a guest DT member, Zoë Tant, who is an independent Stampin' Up demonstrator, and she has kindly donated a lovely set of Stampin' Up stamps - the new Strength and Hope set, which is appropriate as Stampin' Up! is donating £1 from the sale of each Strength and Hope Set sold to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation so two charities benefit from our challenge this month!   BCRF is dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide.

In addition to donating, the prize this month, as sponsor of the St Luke's Charity Cards Challenge Blog  Zoe will donate an additional £1 to the St Luke's Appeal for every set bought from her by supporters of the St Luke's Challenge.  The set costs £15.95 for wood mount and £12.95 for clear mount and can be ordered from Zoe on martin.tant@homecall.co.uk  Post & Packing is £1.50.  Visit her blog www.stampingscene.blogspot.com from 2 July for more information.
